What it means to be a teacher in the Philippines?
Hi I am in Australia but now lives in the Philippines (My father is from Australia, the Philippines mother). I'm doing my final year of High School over the Internet so that I can finish my high school career in Australia, then go to college here (One of America the Cebu City). I think I want to do teaching, but what is here? As the number of hours, so my workload in the school in his final 8:30 til 3:30 (but it was only for students, so teachers had to arrive earlier and leave home later) Do you think that could make a living by being a tutor? I know there are many Korean / Japanese students here and sometimes need help with their English. I prefer working for myself as another person: P
Being a teacher in itself is a play by calling more than generate income. Public school teachers earn low wages, not even enough to maintain decent living for a family. Maestro final exclusive private schools do better, but there is no way they can implement and improve their situation if they rely solely income. At most, additional income to the household head. I have a friend who is a better teacher. She started a small school (high school, kindergarten) and the school is grown, with special offers primary and secondary education. Needless to say, they became rich. Even Koreans and Japanese tutoring will not be a good source livelihood to support a good lifestyle. If you are not able to institutionalize the language school and build a reputation if students come to replace those who have completed their English classes with you.
