Where can I find a legitimate work at home transcription job?
Me and my wife are considering of working at home to be with our children but we find it hard to find legitimate transcription job companies who offer real work at home jobs. Can anyone out there who has had experience on transcription home jobs guide us or recommend to us the companies who offer this kind of jobs or the exact web address of the company they work for. Thanks.
First of all, unless you plan to work different shifts or when kids are at school, you cannot work at home and watch kids at the same time. You need to be undisturbed because these are medical reports which need focus and accuracy because they are part of a patient’s record. You need to be sharp and catch mistakes that could have been made. You do not get paid by hour usually but by production, and you cant just go fast because they check your accuracy not to mention these are people’s medical records so you need to be accurate.
Did you complete a medical transcription program? Especially one that includes editing because that is the majority of my job now. If not I doubt you will pass the tests given which most all companies will require you to do before hire, written, editing and typing. Also, we have had new graduates from local transcription programs test at the hospital and they cannot even complete the transcription part of the test stating that in school the dictations they used to learn were slow, clear and nothing like the real ones which they were given on the test. Also, one even said she could not continue the test because she was not familiar with foreign doctors and the test doctor was not foreign! It takes much experience to be able to learn the foreign dialects which like the majority of the dictators are, the equipment, anatomy, medications, report types, etc. and doing all that with all the background noise from machines, and people and patients.
Also QA is done where they will check a certain percentage of your reports for accuracy and if you fail, you are gone.
Several hospitals allow you to work at home for them.
