I have a question for policeofficers? Are you alot different when you are at home on a day off from work I?
always wonder if cops take there work home or just a different person when there home I hope you understand what I mean.lol?
That really depends on the officer and the type of work that officer does. Some officers are better at “leaving it at the office.” Detectives are much more likely to spend time at home thinking about a difficult case than a traffic officer is to spend time thinking about a ticket he wrote. Then again, traffic officers often work accidents with very serious, sometimes fatal, injuries, and that can stay with you a long time.
As for the general demeanor when not working, it still depends on the officer. Some officers are the same both places, some are different. Usually, though, officers have an emotional shield up at work due to the ever present possibility of danger and the general verbal abuse. At home, they let that shield drop, because they are with their loved ones in a “safe” environment.
Personally, I do think about my cases sometimes when I’m at home, but I usually try my best to put them out of my mind so I can just enjoy the time with family and friends. Also, I’m a pretty laid back person at home and tend to just go with the flow, but at work I usually have more of a take charge attitude to make sure things are done right, so I don’t lose my case in court.
